HYPE TV MALAYSIA UPGRADE
This was an upgrade from my previous LG OLED TV (C7).įrom first impressions even just taking out the box, I was pleasantly surprised.

It's a great looking product, and performs to an exceptional level. You know what to expect from LG, and the G1's look and feel warrant the price tag. There are probably cheaper alternatives out there so I'd say it comes down to brand preference. If you are in the market for an OLED then it's what you should expect to pay, 55 inches is probably too small to do the G1 justice, you want that big screen, big colour, experience but for that you will to have to pay for it.
HYPE TV MALAYSIA FULL
The sound itself is as expected from a wall mounted TV, so I'd say a soundbar is needed if you want that proper Dolby Atmos experience, the TV speakers just don't live up to a full set up if you are used to it. It's what loses a star for me to be honest. Connectivity for sound is also a little frustrating, using a soundbar for audio when watching through built in apps I found you have connect via Bluetooth, but it doesn't seem to connect automatically, despite being the only device paired, you have to manually select, waiting for a menu to appear to select the device then another menu to connect. But the extended menu could be a little friendlier, the ability to simply go back from a selected menu isn't there and you have to start from the beginning if you go into the wrong option. The quick menu offers a number of useful options and can be customised to suit your requirements. There is a great selection of apps available from the webOS so plenty of options to suit your subscriptions. The UEX is nice, things seem to all be in one place on the home screen which is handy and the menus are easy to navigate.
HYPE TV MALAYSIA INSTALL
The G1 is super thin too, you almost don't notice it's there from the side profile, you have to double check when you walk in that it hasnt disappeared! That being said it doesn't stop the G1 from packing some weight, over 20kg, making it a 2 person install job! The colours are bright and the darks are dark, even in the Eco display the richness of colour is excellent, and switch to Vivid and you have yourself a technicolour dreamcoat of a screen! Paired with my set top box on 2160p 10 bit setting the G1 automatically adjusted the display to deeper rich colours so there was no work needed to find the optimum settings. The response from my installation assistant was "That Black is Black!" Even from the initial setup screen you can see how good the picture is. It took the power on button to understand the hype around this OLED panel. That said, it is not causing any problems with current 4k content streaming, I'd just like to have the bandwidth headroom.īut those are minor, it gets the important stuff right, great picture and gaming features and looks good on the wall. I added an ethernet USB adapter which helped but it's still much slower than my internet connection because the USB input is an older standard. The wired network connection is slow, I get higher speed over wifi but that can get interference. I does not work with my cable box or Minidsp SHD streamer.ģ. The remote is nice to use but it is not in any sense a universal remote. That was weeks ago and they have not arrived.Ģ. I called LG and was first told they are not included in the box but when I asked how I could get them they said we'll send them to you. I used blue tape to hold them but that didn't work very well. But there is a place for them and they would have helped coral the wires because the two built in straps are not really up to the job. It did not come with the back wiring closeout panels that I saw in a few video reviews though they were last years model and smaller. Ĭable-based transmissions was officially inaugurated by the 4th Prime Minister of Malaysia, Tun Doctor Mahathir Bin Mohamad and broadcasts from Petaling Jaya on 1 November 1995 through a microwave-based broadcast systemįaced with stiff competition from the Astro satellite television network which was launched seven months later, combined with the failures to expand its content, Mega TV ceased transmission in 2001 as a result, leaving Astro as the one and only pay-TV service provider in Malaysia.I'm overall very happy with this TV, the picture is brighter, sharper and much bigger than the 50" plasma it replaced. Cableview Services Sdn Bhd or Mega TV was incorporated on 18 October 1994 by a consortium which consisted of Sistem Televisyen Malaysia Berhad, Minister of Finance Incorporated, Eurocrest Sdn Bhd, Ibex TV (M) Sdn Bhd and Sri Utara Sdn Bhd.
